Released in 1996, LE MORSE is Patrick GAUTHIER's third album and follows his preceding record perfectly. Even if one is aware of the appearance of new musicians, Philip BUSSONNET on the bass or equally, Francois LAIZEAU on the drums, the music is as much the result of a collective effort as an individual composer. The idea of travelling which was felt on SUR LES FLOTS VERTICAUX is even more alive here; one is thus invited to move from the USA to Africa, from the West to the East, by a line-up which has nevertheless developed its own musical approach. COLTRANE, McCOY TYNER, OFFERING are the closest cousins to this music in which the vocal work is handled by Stella VANDER, Benedicte RAGU and Himiko PAGANOTTI, and the result touches on the sublime.
Recoreded and mixed at studios UNIWERÏA ZEKT
in spring 1996 by Francis LINON.
